Oxford University Press Offers the Ultimate Word Lover’s Set

0195395298Oxford University Press is having its spring sale, and one of the red-tag items is David Crystal’s three-volume series Txtng [sic], Fight for English, and Words Words Words.
Here’s how OUP describes the series:

From David Crystal, foremost writer and lecturer on the English language, comes a three-book package that examines the most pressing controversies of our era.
Does texting spell the end of western civilization? In Txtng, a humorous, level-headed and insightful book, Crystal argues that the panic over texting is misplaced. Fight for English is the story of the fight for English usage–the story of the people who tried to shape the language in their own image, but failed generation after generation. And in Words Words Words , Crystal guides word-lovers expertly and passionately through the mysteries and delights of word origins, histories and spellings, regional and social variations, taboo words, jargon and wordplay.
This compendium is a celebration of what we say and how we say it.

I haven’t read any of these yet . . . but sounds like now is the right time!
