Rachel Thompson

Manager, Bids & Proposals

“To me, being a Dragonfly means being surrounded by kind, hardworking people who are passionate about what they do. We live and breathe writing, editing, and design, and we are committed to providing nothing less than editorial excellence for our clients.”

Off the clock

Rachel has been sharpening her skills in proposals and business development, technical writing and editing, and design and marketing for nearly a decade. She is an emerging leader at Dragonfly.

Rachel is a certified proposal specialist whose strengths lie in writing, editing, and designing. She is a bit of a jack of all trades, with additional skill sets in management, journalism, and video editing. In a previous life, she was a news producer for several local TV stations on the East Coast. Rachel has degrees in multimedia journalism and professional writing from Virginia Tech. She has also achieved foundation certification in bid and proposal management, as recognized by the Association of Proposal Management Professionals.

At Dragonfly, Rachel is the proposals and marketing manager. She makes sure each of our proposal clients has a seasoned proposal manager, creative designer, and team of expert writers and editors. She also leads our internal Proposal Submissions Team, finding RFx opportunities and taking part in business development activities.

Rachel loves working at Dragonfly because of the company’s beliefs, which emanate from every aspect of what we do: being kind to one another; supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion; and helping others so they don’t have to work long hours away from their families. The cherry on top of it all is Dragonfly’s status as a small, woman-owned business!

In her free time, Rachel enjoys participating in book clubs, serving her community, and playing with her two kitties. She has a passion for acting (both on stage and in front of the camera), reading sci-fi novels, and watching Bob’s Burgers.
