Dragonfly president Samantha Enslen moves from DC back to her hometown of Dayton, Ohio, and launches Dragonfly Editorial. A husband, two cats, and two small children are in tow.
Dragonfly begins editing the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, published by the National Academy of Sciences. TRR is one of the most cited and prolific transportation journals in the world.
Booz Allen Hamilton asks Dragonfly to begin editing and designing its technical proposals. Today, Dragonfly provides proposal support to multiple customers in the IT, cybersecurity, and defense industry, including Altamira, Collins Aerospace, and Summit.
The European Association of Urology invites Dragonfly to begin editing their top-ranked medical journal, European Urology. Today, Dragonfly provides medical editing support to multiple groups, including Medscape, the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Patient-Centered Research Institute.
Dragonfly wins its first design award, a Bronze Award from the Hermes Creative Competition. To date, our designs have been recognized nine times by the Hermes Competition, Summit Creative Awards, Communicator Awards, Addy Awards, and MarCom Awards, including a Platinum Award from the Hermes.
Baby on board! Sam’s pregnant with her third child, which means it’s time for Dragonfly to hire its first full-time employee. Amy Paradysz becomes Dragonfly’s first editorial manager.
A communications lead at the American Diabetes Association reads an article Sam wrote in The Editorial Eye. Recognizing plain language when she sees it, she invites Dragonfly to begin writing for ADA. Today, Dragonfly writes and designs patient education and continuing medical education content for Ohio’s Hospice, PlatformQ, and Spire Learning.
Dragonfly exhibits for the first time at the IABC World Conference, meeting up with the communications director from KAUST, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. Dragonfly launches a multi-year effort helping KAUST write and design content for their Office of Innovation and Economic Development.
Mary Gable becomes Dragonfly’s first full-time writer. Today, Dragonfly sports four staff writers, covering topics that range from finance to IT to land use to architecture.
Dragonfly president Samantha Enslen is elected to the board of ACES, The Society for Editing. During her 7-year term, Sam helps to shepherd ACES through double-digit growth, a name change, and a transformation from a journalism focus to a focus on the broader world of editing. She also launches Tracking Changes, the Society’s quarterly journal.
Bain Consulting invites Dragonfly to partner with their global publishing team. Today, Dragonfly supports Bain offices on every continent, providing end-to-end publications support for their research reports, blogs, and white papers.
Dragonfly begins writing content for the Grammar Girl podcast and blog. To date, we’ve written more than 125 episodes for the show, more than any other guest writer.
Lexy Nesbitt becomes Dragonfly’s first full-time graphic designer. Today, Lexy works with a team of three additional designers to create expressive, professional design that supports our clients’ identity and messaging.
Fintech giant Fiserv asks Dragonfly to edit the content for Forum, Fiserv’s annual user conference. Today, Dragonfly supports many customers in the fintech and financial services industries, including Intuit, Kroll, PwC, Wipfli, and Q2.
Blue Cross Blue Shield begins calling on Dragonfly for proposal editing and writing support. Today, we provide proposal editing and proposal design support for multiple healthcare providers, including AmeriHealth Caritas, Elevance, Molina, and United Healthcare.
Dragonfly writer Corinne Jorgenson is named a 40-under-40 leader by the Association of Proposal Management Professionals. This award recognizes young members who have made a noticeable impression on their companies and the overall bid and proposal profession.
Senior editor Cynthia Williams launches Outside the Book, spotlighting editors of color and editors from historically underrepresented communities.
Dragonfly president Sam Enslen is named a Fellow of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals. This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions throughout their careers in the bid and proposal industry and is one of the association’s highest honors.
Dragonfly receives certification from the federal Small Business Administration and WBENC, the most widely recognized and respected national certification for women-owned businesses in the U.S.
Dragonfly is recognized with five awards from the Hermes Creative Competition, including two Platinum and two Gold Awards. To date, Dragonfly’s writers have brought home more than 25 awards in creative competitions, including the Addy Awards, Marcom Awards, Communication Awards, and Hermes Awards.
Dragonfly medical editor Michelle Anderson earns ELS certification through the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences. ELS certification represents the gold standard in proficiency for medical editors.
Dragonfly wins a bid to become a communications provider for UN Women, a United Nations entity working for gender equality and the empowerment of women. UN Women joins Dragonfly’s many clients promoting international development, including the International Institute for Education, Venture37, and Panagora Group.
Dragonfly VP Rachel Thompson is appointed to the executive board of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals, recognizing her expertise in proposals and her common-sense leadership abilities.
Dragonfly levels up and hits the 25-employee mark! To support our diverse crew, we unroll employee affinity groups, including groups for creatives of color, LGBTQ+ folk, book lovers, pop culture fans, and more.
Dragonfly begins supporting global design practice Olsen Kundig. The firm joins Dragonfly’s portfolio of clients in the AEC industry, including ARUP, BentallGreenOak, Kiewitt, and Miller Valentine Group.
Dragonfly designs the 2022 annual report for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The report is distributed to 16 million members and friends of the Church worldwide.
The AP Stylebook launches its first-ever AP training and certification program. Team Dragonfly shows up, and Dragonfly editors Amanda Jackson, Cynthia Williams, Dave Nelsen, Jen Rubio, Jo MacGugan, and Kathryn Flynn receive AP Stylebook Certification.
Dragonfly creates our first policy on ethical AI use in May 2023. We pledge to have our human creatives carefully evaluate any suggestions AI provides to us.
Andi Trzeciak becomes Dragonfly’s first culture manager, recognizing the importance we place on creating a supportive, caring, and collaborative environment for our teammates.
